A recovery residence house meets certain criteria and is certified by a oversight board. LIFE Houses is a FARR (Florida Addiction Recovery Residence) Certified House and it gives you freedom to live your life as you normally would, such as working and participating in social and family events. You still have rules and guidelines you need to follow, but this next step in your recovery process sets you up with a stable routine for long term success. This structure is crucial to long term success and may not be achievable if you plan to return to your previous living situation. Halfway houses that are not certified do not always require complete abstinence and trigger focus on participating in recovery acitivities and a personal recovery program.
Because treatment is only the first phase of recovery and people with an addiction are most vulnerable to relapse within 30 to 90 days following completion of a treatment program. From there, your chances of relapse remain present until you’ve sustained four or five years of recovery, which is when the rate decreases below 15%.
The support from aftercare programs, such as a a recovery residence or a structured and certified halfway house, will help you (or if it’s for your loved one) overcome the negative thoughts, feelings, and desires that can lead to relapse. A recovery residence structured program provides a safe environment where residents learn how to live a recovery program and in turn how to cope with real-world situations.
Our residence can help you:
Avoid people who still use substances and are not interested in getting recovery.
Surround yourself with others who are dealing with a similar situation, and want to stay clean, abstinent and developing a better life.
Seek therapy, 12-step programs, and other means of support.
Learn responsibility and hard work, as you’ll need to pay rent and complete chores.
Someone who wants to stay stopped from using drugs or drinking alcohol should consider a recovery residence community. Many residents complete a treatment program prior to approaching this level of living arrangement, but this is not always mandatory. If you have already gone through treatment, but you’re not quite ready to live independently, this type of facility may be an excellent fit for you.
LIFE Houses recovery residence is serious about recovery. Our residents want to be held accountable and to support not only their own recovery, but their housemates. The goal is to transition to an independent lifestyle, free of substance abuse and addiction.
Residents may remain in LIFE Houses for as long as they want, if they continue following the house rules, paying rent and working a job and a recovery program. The length of time depends on an individual’s unique journey and how long their process takes. One study reports that an average stay lasts between 166 and 254 days.
We accept clients from treatment and other levels of recovery. Call us to discuss where you are in your journey, let’s see if this is a good fit.
